Scoring
DOTS Score
DOTS (Dynamic Objective Team Scoring) is a powerlifting scoring formula introduced in 2019 that uses a fourth-degree bodyweight polynomial to normalize totals across weight classes and sexes.
DOTS replaced the Wilks formula in USA Powerlifting and most drug-tested federations starting in 2020. The formula multiplies the lifter's total by 500 and divides by a fourth-degree polynomial of bodyweight, with separate coefficients for male and female competitors.
DOTS scores roughly correspond to Wilks 2 scores at the same level: 400 DOTS is intermediate, 470 is advanced, 525 is national-level, 575+ is world-class. The two systems usually rank lifters identically; absolute numbers and weight class fairness differ slightly.
